Preimplantation genetic diagnosis, also known as PGD, is a highly advanced reproductive medicine technique that allows embryologists to genetically analyze embryos before they are implanted into the women’s uterus. It is performed in conjunction with in vitro fertilization and has given new hope to couples who have serious genetic or chromosomal disorders that they don't want to pass to their children. Additionally, the utilization of PGD has proven effective for couples who have experienced repeated failed IVF cycles.
