Intrauterine insemination (IUI) also is known as artificial insemination. Tower Fertility Center offers this treatment to both couples and singles who may use either a partner's or donor's sperm. The procedure consists of first washing the sperm in the laboratory to remove any harmful chemicals that may cause complications for the woman. A chemical is then added to the sperm in order to isolate the most active sperm in the sample. This sperm is inserted into a woman’s body through a thin catheter once an ovum is released, increasing the chance of a successful pregnancy.
